“I love being at the thick of the action; if I’m convinced about a cause, I don’t just stand around lost in contemplation! I’m convinced we need to preserve the oceans…”
Franck David: a goal, a conviction, a determination
Franck is a Breton at heart with an extraordinary career: a professional windsurfer for 10 years, he was crowned Olympic champion and World champion in 1992. Is his athletic past behind his will of iron? “I love being at the thick of the action; if I’m convinced about a cause, I don’t just stand around lost in contemplation! I’m convinced we need to preserve the oceans…”
Present from the moment the Foundation was created back in 2009, he participated in the first expedition. “It was a slap in the face when we discovered the sheer scale of the microplastic issue”.
Now, he is hoping to get to the thick of the action with this second expedition. “I’m certain that we can succeed by bringing all our positive energy together!” It is a vessel that serves as a platform for sharing as well as a demonstrator of technological innovation. “This vessel is highly innovative, it’s a challenge. However, I love a challenge and difficult objectives speak to me.” A confession? “I can be really stubborn…”
