Race for Water at the Blue Tech Show
Race for Water made its mark at the 2ᵉ edition of the Blue Tech Show, held in Canet-en-Roussillon from November 28 to 30. Organized by the Pyrénées-Orientales Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event brought together startups, companies and organizations from the Occitanie region committed to maritime innovation and the preservation of marine ecosystems.
An interactive stand
In addition to discovering the work of the Race for Water Foundation alongside its partners MODX 70 and Aeroforce, the public was able to explore the Fresque Océane. This engaging educational workshop is a fun way to discover the issues surrounding the Ocean and the impact of human activities on this ecosystem, while collaboratively reflecting on solutions to preserve it.
An inspiring conference
Entitled “Race for Water: revolutionary ships at the service of the Ocean”, this presentation by Camille Rollin, Strategy and Environment Advisor for the Foundation, showed how our ambassador ships and their innovative technologies enable us to deploy a varied, high-impact, international media program.
A dynamic round table
The round table on decarbonizing maritime transport, moderated by Camille Rollin, brought together speakers with complementary expertise: Gautier Kauffmann (Windelo), Benoît Chatillon (Tenderlift), Franck David (Océan Développement/Aeroforce), Frédéric Chamard-Boudet (Sail in Box) and Bernard Lasry (Cémoi). Discussions highlighted innovative initiatives such as hybrid and rotational velocity solutions, and eco-design applied to the maritime world, while underlining the challenges involved in adopting these technologies. Speakers stressed the importance of cooperation between public and private players to overcome financial, logistical and regulatory obstacles, in order to accelerate the transition to more sustainable shipping.
The screening of an engaging documentary
The film “Plastique : le Suicide collectif?”, directed by Peter Charaf with images and testimonies collected during our Odysseys, screened at Clap Ciné in Canet-en-Roussillon, sparked rich discussions on the urgent need to act against plastic pollution.
In addition to raising public awareness, the event provided an opportunity to successfully test the Ocean Fresco, which was enthusiastically received, and to reinforce stakeholders’ commitment to maritime decarbonization through constructive exchanges.
Race for Water is proud to have contributed to this event and to have raised public awareness of ocean preservation issues. The show confirmed the need for collaboration between players in the blue economy to meet environmental challenges.
